Biography

Jaime Jaime Ayala Born in Colombia, received Baccalaureate Degree in Philosophy and Literature with the highest grades at age 16. For the next year, worked and was certified in Judicial Photography, Topography and Crime Scene Investigation by the Presidential Intelligence Service. Entered Medical School and obtained highest grades during 1st year, received a scholarship for the rest of my career. While in school, received mentoring at a multi-specialty medical clinic where I ran the X-ray, EKG and clinical laboratory, in addition to the care and follow-up of 22 inpatients under supervision.







Degrees & Certifications

  • “Physician and Surgeon” degree obtained in 1962, which included Rotating Internship.
  • Obtained ECFMG certification and came to USA where I did a second Rotating Internship as per AMA requirements.
  • Received Certificate of completion in General Psychiatry in Traverse City and in Child Psychiatry at Lafayette Clinic where I ran the Adolescent program and trained 3rd-year General Psychiatry Residents in Adolescent and Child Psychiatry as Associate Professor at WSU, Detroit for 5 years.
  • Began Private practice in Dearborn and Farmington Hills in 1973.

Target Population & Expertise

  • Learning Disabilities ages 5 to 26, trained Special Education Specialists in Wayne County under the WSU College of Life-Long Learning for 2 years.
  • Disadvantaged Youth populations, assisting them in the Tri-County area’s Juvenile Courts and also Washtenaw County’s.
  • Family Therapy, Disorders of a Dual and co-morbid nature, extensive experience in Borderline and OCP disorders.
  • Gerontology, Closed Head Injuries, Wrongful Dismissals and expert witness assistance in Disability Determination litigation.
  • On-Campus psychiatric services to college students and their families considered at High Risk at MSU, East Lansing, for 2 years.

Hospital Administration and Program Development

  • Comprehensive MH programs at the 5-hospital People’s Community Authority centralized at the new Heritage Hospital in 1977, served as its first Medical Director for 3 years.
  • Similar engagements with 3 hospitals at risk of losing JACO accreditation in South Eastern Michigan and merging of psychiatric programs: Grace and Mercy-Detroit, Mercy and Memorial in Monroe.

Special Interests and Other Accomplishments, Present Projects

Photography, 3D modeling of the human brain with emphasis in neuro-endocrinology, psycho-pharmacology, brain imaging for use in medical training, patient education and forensic medicine in Court cases.
